Coratella and trippa are our strong dishes, genuine flavours as at one time; but there are also special dishes such as pasta dishes with game sauce or with porcino mushrooms...
Thirty years of tradition
Lo Spuntino Trattoria is a small family-run restaurant in the historic centre of Castel Gandolfo exactly just below the central square of this beautiful small town, summer residence of the Popes for centuries.
The restaurant history originated since 1985 in which the chef Giovanni decides to open this small trattoria satisfying personal desires after several years of experience as a chef in many restaurants in the region and not only; in fact the owner Giovanni Melaragno 1954 class of and originated from Molise and now father of two sons, Francesco and Stefano, lover of good food, decided at the young age of just 20 years, to gain experience as a chef for the summer season in a hotel in Rimini.
Yes, a place where all go for fun he learnt the tricks of the trade, after attending the school of Canistro, a small town in the Abruzzo (region of Italy).
The 1985 is an intense year for Giovanni because, a few months after opening the restaurant, was born the second son Stefano who helps him along with his eldest son Francesco. Legend has it that while the second son was born he is cooking Penne all'Arrabbiata, one of the best of his repertoire in which certainly includes the Amatriciana, Carbonara, Cacio e pepe but they are not outdone his Pappardelle not, to mention his seconds as the Coniglio alla Cacciatora, the Trippa alla romana and Coratella defined by some clients as wonders for the palat.
In short a family atmosphere where the Chef Giovanni welcomes you to taste Roman cuisine, made by him with such experience, love and passion which are the words that he puts every day, from about 30 years now in his tiny restaurant.
